About Nanyang Polytechnic Alumni Winds

Teachers, nurses, engineers, policeman, army regulars, NSFs, bankers and many more. These busy individuals comes together weekly in the name of friendship and music. Together, they make up the Nanyang Polytechnic Alumni Winds (NYPAW).

This 40-strong band is made up of alumni from the graduating batches of 1998 to 2008, with a few from the newly graduated batch of 2009. Some sees the instruments everyday while some have not seen it for ages. However, that certainly does not stop them from reliving the good old days of Tiong Bahru Campus to the current Ang Mo Kio Campus.

Just like any other organizations, the alumni are vital as it also acts as a role model for the new generation to emulate or to learn from, and proceed on further. The role of NYPAW is not only to bring the alumni group together, but to also support the main band (NYPWO) in musical aspects as well as other areas as the need arises. NYPAW is certainly looking forward to more collaboration to enhance the bond between the two bands.

Set-up on 1st April 2006, the NYPAW is still in search of its own sound and style. NYPAW is very honored to have Mr. Luk Hoi Yui to bring the band to what she is now. With the current Resident Conductor, Mr Xaven Chng, the band will be heading to even greater heights in expressing the unique sound that the band wants to achieve.

This is just the beginning......
